The PFC 13 “Validation” took place at The Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, CA on May 8th.
Pat Runez (AZ Combat Sports) became the PFC’s 125-pound champion in impressive fashion, as he had little trouble with the tough but overmatched Anthony Perales.
Runez controlled the first round, both standing and on the mat, before locking in the belt-winning rear-naked choke at 2:28 of the second round. Runez improves to a perfect 6-0, and has contender Raamba Somdet in his sights.

The Graplers Quest took place in Las Vegas on May 9th. GD JIU-JITSU/Nova Uniao was well represented by 11 competitors, who brought 13 medals back to AZ!
The standouts of the Team were Kristina Barlaan and David Margraff. Kristina won the Advanced/No-Gi/Feather weight and the Blue Belt/Feather Weight. David won the Blue Belt Super Heavy and took second at the No-Gi/Intermediate/Super Heavy.
MANY WEAPONS sits down with Founder of GD Jiu-jitsu and head Jiu-jitsu instructor at Arizona Combat Sports. Gustavo Dantas is a 3rd degree black belt from Andre Pederneiras (founder of Team Nova União). Gustavo has been producing world-class competitors since October 2000 in Tempe, Arizona.

The GD JIU-JITSU Events in association with the Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZSBJJF) is proud to announce the Arizona Brazilian Jiu-jitsu State Championship 2009. The competition will take place on July 11 & 12 at the Westwood High School located at 945 W. 8th St. in Mesa, AZ 85201
Gracie Mag will be covering the event.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition will offer kids, juveniles, Adult (Male and Female), Masters and Senior Divisions.
Registration
. Each competitor must fill out the registration form online. The Pre-registration fee is $50 for the adults and juveniles (16-17 yrs) or and $35 for the kids division until July 3rd. After this date,$60 for adults and juveniles and, $45 for the kids.
KIDS Division is limited to 200 Competitors.
Juvenile, Adult, Masters and Senior Divisions are limited to 350 competitors.

The 1st Arizona Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids Cup took place at the Broadway Recreation Center in Mesa, Arizona on April 25th. The event promoted by GD Jiu-Jitsu Events, in association with AZ State BJJ Federation, was sponsored by Forever Fighter, Custom T-Shirt Warehouse, OTM Fight Shop, Gracie Magazine Association and Arizona Combat Sports. The event was dedicated to competitors between ages of 4 and 17 yrs old and was a great success with its debut at 163 competitors.

The Naga World Championship took place in Newark,NJ on April 4th and 5th. Nova Uniao AZ was well represented by Annalyn Holmstrom, who took 1st place in the Blue Belt/flyweight division and 3rd place in the No-gi/Intermediate/flyweight.
